Head of a statuette of Athena found on the Acropolis before 1881 and is thought to copy the head of the chryselephantine statue of Athena Parthenos made by Pheidias.

The goddess wears an attic-style helmet with raised cheek guards and crest on its top which is now broken. A few visible curls flank her face. Thanks to other statues that copied Pheidias’ Athena in antiquity we know that the helmet had three crests each one supporting a mythical creature: a Sphinx in the middle and one Pegasus on each side.
